Tamweeli BEYOND

Through Tamweeli, MEII has worked to actively expand beyond its current client base to support promising businesses and individuals—that for cultural or logistical reasons—might not have interacted with traditional lenders in the first place. It is an especially important tool for female entrepreneurs and those living in remote areas where travel is impractical, who have fewer options to visit banks and apply for loans in-person.

Simply put, there is no other platform in the MENA region that combines such a wealth of financial tools and hands-on technical assistance. Having proven the success of this model in the diverse markets of Palestine, Jordan, and Tunisia, Tamweeli has ambitious plans to expand beyond its current products and geographic presence.

Both Tamweeli Assist and Tamweeli Academy can be used to provide many different types of support for SMEs, extending into other subjects such as marketing, sales, logistics, and much more. Digital by design, our ability to scale is not confined by political borders and there are exciting opportunities to increase usage throughout the MENA region.

MEII plans on launching two smartphone applications and extending community outreach. First an application is in the works for Tamweeli Platform to cater to individuals and entrepreneurs who prefer to access digital solutions through their smartphone. Also, MEII envisions a simplified bookkeeping smartphone application for micro-enterprises and household businesses that will make the process even easier for those just beginning their financing journey. Finally, we plan to build on the success of our roadshows and pitching events that we pioneered in Tunisia, bringing businesses and financiers face-to-face to create meaningful interactions that support a budding entrepreneurial ecosystem. Over time as the database of Tamweeli businesses grows, we also hope that Tamweeli will connect small businesses on a B2B basis.
