MEII launched the Tamweeli Matchmaking Platform in Palestine to serve as a mechanism to connect SME borrowers and commercial banks. As the Tamweeli Matchmaking Platform was steadily attracting loan requests and financial institutions, it became clear that its potential for developmental impact was far greater than connecting banks with SMEs. Responding to both needs and opportunity, MEII has gradually built Tamweeli into a unique, one-stop shop for financial inclusion and technical assistance that supports business owners and individuals in markets throughout the MENA region.

Today, Tamweeli has become a convenient address for Palestinian, Jordanian, and Tunisian firms, individuals, and NGOs to access funding, find appropriate insurance coverage, and upgrade their financial acumen. In a very real sense, Tamweeli is evolving into a financial inclusion platform that caters to micro, small, and medium entrepreneurs, individuals, households, startups, and financial intermediaries, including leasing companies, commercial and Islamic banks, and microfinance intermediaries. It serves as a bridge to a more level playing field and brighter future for thousands of families. And we are just getting started.
